Penacook School Karate has been offering instruction and training in Karate since 2000. Located in Boscawen, NH, Penacook School Karate produces Black Belts in life as well as in the martial arts. Everyone begins their training for a variety of reasons, we tailor our programs to meet your needs. Whether you are looking to get fit, lose weight, improve coordination, balance or stamina, to increase self-discipline and confidence or learn real world self-defense, our programs are dedicated to helping you reach those goals and more!

Penacook School Karate is unique in its approach to training in Karate. With the many schools and styles of Martial Arts available, we emphasize real life applications of the movements, detail and performance. To teach quality Martial Arts requires a well educated staff of Instructors that can deliver the material in a systematic method while making the classes fun and interesting.

Headed by Matt Brown (Kancho) and a staff of expert instructors and managers, including Brad Turgeon, Jill Brown, Gail Williams, Penacook School Karate offers a number of programs for physical fitness and instruction in Karate and Kyusho-jitsu (pressure point applications). A proud member of Dillman Karate International, a worldwide authority in pressure point self defense, we specialize in Ryukyu Kempo Karate, Small Circle Jujitsu and Modern Arnis.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the arts of Ryukyu Kempo Karate from Okinawa, Small Circle Jujitsu and the Filipino art of Modern Arnis. Ryukyu Kempo is known for its application and use of nerve points, or Kyusho as taught to Kancho Brown by Professor George Dillman, who is considered the world's foremost authority on the subject, in the human body thereby making it a powerful method of self-defense not based on strength or size. While providing the unique benefits such as endurance, balance, flexibility and better overall general health that martial arts provides, Ryukyu Kempo gives the practitioner practical and easy to apply methods of defending oneself.

Small Circle Jujitsu, created by Professor Wally Jay, is considered to be one of the world's best stand up methods of jujitsu. Using the principle of Judo and Jujitsu, Professor Jay applied the theory of making the large circular movements of the throws and joint locks of these arts into smaller more effective movements. Combining these principle with pressure point applications makes these techniques virtually effortless.

Modern Arnis, developed by the late Professor Remy Presas, is a Filipino art of stick and empty hand fighting. Modern Arnis is known not only for its effective stick techniques but its flowing movement. Although one would not walk around carrying a stick, this art teaches one to effectively defend against stick and knife attacks with quick flowing movements. Modern Arnis can enhance and complement any system of self defense.

As students progress, each level will provide an increasing challenge for achievement. Students will be tested by our Black Belt Panel for each and every rank to insure quality of technique, proper attitude and respect. Throughout our curriculum, students will be encouraged to push themselves to improve, to overcome all odds and accomplish more than they ever dreamed possible.

Our Facility

Our 3000 square foot facility is located in a beautiful location in Boscawen. It offers a traditional Japanese look and feel. Our waiting area offers comfortable seating while providing a viewing area of the training mat. The training mat has state of the art padding with free standing and hanging training bags. We offer a fitness room, spacious restrooms with showers, a two level parking lot and beautiful outdoor areas.
